MHS Senior Shawna Spurling has earned the title of this year’s 2008 salutatorian. The individual named the salutatorian stands with the second highest academic ranking in the entire Senior Class. She is the daughter of Mary Golden.
Throughout her years in high school, Spurling has been involved in many school activities including Beta Club for three years, vice president of FCCLA for 1 year and a member for four years, basketball for three years, school mascot for one year, FBLA for two years, student council for two years, class officer for two years, pep club for two years and H.A.D. for two years.
For the last four years, Spurling has received the GPA award along with Child Care Guidance Award, Advanced Placement Chemistry Award, National Honor Roll for three years, Most Likely to Save a Life Award in
Medical Application for Science and Health (MASH) program,
Chancellor’s scholarship and
University Honors Scholarship Alternate.
With all her preparation and success through her high school experience, Spurling plans to attend
ASU and earn a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. She then intends to obtain a doctorate in physical therapy.
