Randal the Magician
By Danielle Parker and Shayla Boak
Randal the magician dropped by recently to visit Marmaduke Elementary students when they did a great job selling cookie dough to raise money for new playground equipment. He made kids levitate, made objects disappear and reappear—all kinds of tricks. Randal’s show impacted many of our students; they now want to become magicians.
“I want to become a magician; I like magic. I’d want to make a dog disappear,” commented Paige Upchurch.
For one trick, Randal made first-grader Cindy Paredes float. “When he got to the third tap, he pulled the board and metal chairs out from underneath her, and she was floating!” exclaimed Chad Hall.
All his magic tricks were exciting to the students. Sixth grader Tia Bopp said, “I enjoyed the part when the balloon turned into a bird.”
Students and faculty have been working hard to raise money to improve the playground, and the cookie dough sales were very successful. But the best part was the reward when Randal the Magician dropped by.
