Project Fair
By Anna Oliver
April 27 and 28 Marmaduke GT students participated in a project fair in the school gymnasium. The projects were judged by faculty and staff members and viewed by the entire student body. Later, GT students took their projects to William’s Baptist for the NEA Co-op Project Fair. Students representing our school were: Brittany Banning, Kelsey Campbell, Hannah Long, Alison Hampton, Hannah Muse, Tonlee Mitchell, Alex Richey, and Scout Weatherford.
Eighth grader Alex Richey did her project on Special Olympics. “I feel like it’s very important and it needs to be more recognized.” She placed first in her division and tied with three others. She’s happy with what she placed and likes to do project fair because it is “fun and challenging.”
Sixth grader Brittany Banning likes doing project fair because its fun and she learns a lot of new things. Brittany did her project on Susan G. Coleman for the cure for breast cancer. “My Aunt Sheila is a four year survivor, and she inspired me to do my project on it,” Brittany said. She won an Award of Excellence.
This annual event is a great learning experience for the G/T students as well as the rest of the student body.
