Marmaduke Yearbook to Memphis
By Tonlee Mitchell
Marmaduke high school’s yearbook staff took a trip to Memphis last week to listen to a Walsworth representative talk about what’s “in” for yearbook. Many schools attended the lecture and most found the speaker, Blaze Hayes, very interesting.
He brought many yearbooks from high schools and collages around the country that gave examples of what is “in.” Hayes was lively and, after a short lecture, began a quiz game in which the students could win from ten to twenty dollars for every correct answer.
“That was the most fun I’ve ever had on a trip,” commented sophomore Jordan Agee. There were a lot of laughs at the conference.
“I hope he speaks next year,” Drew Fletcher, also a sophomore at Marmaduke, said, agreeing with Jordan’s comment.
During the speech, the attending students learned about what popular magazines such as People magazine, are doing and what trends had been shared among other year books.
“I learned a lot and enjoyed it. Thanks to Mr. Hayes, we now have an idea for next year’s yearbook,” said Junior Alison Vanhorn.
All in all, the trip was very profitable for everyone.
