FCCLA Think Pink
By Anna Oliver
FCCLA is helping to raise money for Breast Care Awareness. Members will be selling pink lemonade during junior and senior high lunch for 25-50 cents on Wednesdays and Fridays. Junior high FCCLA will be doing this until Christmas break, and the senior high FCCLA will continue selling after the break.
All FCCLA organizations in the state of Arkansas are participating in this event. At the end of the school year, all the money from each organization in Arkansas will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
This project was assigned at the FCCLA conference in Jonesboro in October. Diana Derr, senior high FCCLA sponsor, and Judy Bell, junior high FCCLA sponsor, took a few students to the conference with them. Judy Bell said, “This is a very good project. Girls learn from it, and guys also learn what they can do to prevent breast cancer.”
All who attended the conference learned a lot about how to keep their bodies healthy and about the harmful effects of breast cancer. “I learned that more men die from breast cancer, because they don’t find out they have it until it’s too late,” stated Ali Hoffman. The FCCLA is excited to raise money for this important foundation.
