FCCLA State Conference

By Whitney Morris

Marmaduke FCCLA students traveled to Little Rock where twelve high school students and nine junior high students attended a conference. The members attended the general session meeting on Tuesday and the award ceremony on Wednesday where Leah Morris, Alex Gould, Stacey Brown, Amber Pentecost, Scarlet Wolverton, Alison Vanhorn, and Hailey Muse received awards for the Power of One event.

“It was the first time we’ve attended the morning award ceremony,” said sponsor Diana Derr. “I’m pleased to have students receive certificates.”

The motivational speakers had very strong points and were quite entertaining. They talked about leadership and how students should respect themselves and always strive to do great.

“It was a good experience and I learned a lot about leadership,” freshman Amber Pentecost stated.

“I learned not to quit,” said Derek Earls.

FCCLA is making a difference in showing younger generations how to be leaders and to step up in their home and communities.
