FBLA State Conference

By Anna Oliver

Sunday, March 28, the FBLA traveled to Little Rock for a two day competition in various state competitions at the State House Convention Center. They stayed there for two days and returned on Tuesday, March 30. All together thirteen FBLA members attended the convention, eight of whom went because they won awards at district: Jordan Agee, Jessica Colter, Silver Dollar, Drew Fletcher, Alex Gould, Tonlee Mitchell, Ariel Nations, and Lily Taylor. The other members were there to vote in the election for the state FBLA offices.

Junior Tyler Franks ran for state president and, although he did not win, he did a great job in representing Marmaduke High School.

“If I could run again for president I would, because it was such a great experience,” he said.

Junior Lauren Sweetwood placed third in Networking Concepts and will be competing in Nationals in Nashville July 5. “I’m excited to be representing my school as well as my state in Nationals,” she said.

Freshman Julie Finley learned many things from state. “I learned how to be a good leader, and I got to explore the many opportunities that FBLA has in store,” she said. She plans to join FBLA in the future.
