Marmaduke Baseball Coach Voted Coach of the Year
Baseball coach Larry Willis, who also teaches Junior High Social Studies was voted—once again—coach of the year by the 2A North and South conference coaches.
“It feels good,” Coach Willis said. “I appreciate the honor to be chosen by the other coaches.”
Willis has been selected Coach of the Year for three out of the past five years. This is the fourth year in a row he has taken his team to the State competition. The Greyhounds won the 2A-3 North conference and play against the State champions for the second year in a row.
“The team members are young and inexperienced, but played well enough to get us here,” Willis said. “I’m proud of them.”
“Coach Willis is one of the old “dawgs” who still believes in teaching the fundamentals of the game the same way that the tenured teams in the major league do,” said Assistant Coach Bill Muse. “He still loves the game as much today as he did when he was a child.”
