Christmas Card Art Contest

Out of several hundred entries from schools across Arkansas, three out of the four winners of the Christmas cards art contest sponsored by CASA/Ritter Communications are from Marmaduke Elementary School
The Christmas cards designed by fifth graders Abigail Meredith and Chad Hall, and fourth grader Mason Dearin were selected as winners, and third grader Cassie Keele received Honorable Mention.
“I was really surprised when I found out I was one of the winners, because I have never won any kind of contest like that. I was like “Yes!” I felt like I had won the basketball championship,” Abigail Meredith exclaimed.
The winners, including Honorable Mentions, received ten Christmas cards with their art work on them. The four main winners also received their work back framed.
“I was surprised to find out that I had won. I didn’t think I was a very good artist and I have a lot of classmates that I thought were much better. I was pretty anxious to get my prizes. I went to Mr. Gibson almost every day to see if they had arrived,” Chad Hall said.
The four schools that took part in this contest were Ridgefield Christian School, Concordia Christian Academy, Blessed Sacrament School, and Marmaduke Elementary. Marmaduke was the only school in Greene County that took part in the contest.
“I’m so proud of all the students. They did a terrific job and worked very hard. Cards with the students’ designs are available for purchase through CASA here in Greene County. I would like to encourage everyone to buy some of the cards in support of CASA and all the young artists,” commented Mr. Gibson.
