BETA Initiation
By Anna Oliver
On February 19 the BETA
club from Marmaduke High School welcomed 15 new members to join the original 17
members. BETA is made up of
students who are honored for their hard work and good grades. At the initiation
Landon Carmer, Morgan Hatcher, Shelly Finley, and Katie Kloepfer gave speeches
to motivate the rest of the student body to do better in school and become
members of BETA Club.
New member Ben Holder said, “It’s a very appreciative and
honorable accomplishment.” All members agree that it is very nice to show they
were in BETA when they start filling out college applications. “It’s a step
forward in my future and I’m happy I achieved my goal,” Hannah Lewis stated.
The assembly had a positive effect on the students who were
listening. Watching their fellow classmates honored for their hard work really
motivated many people to start doing better in their classes.
“Some of my close friends are in BETA
and I see how it has made them happy to have accomplished something like that,”
said Tessa Allison.

New BETA
inductees Anna Best, Jessica Colter, Silver Dollar and Brian Easley are sworn
in during BETA initiation.
