Art students get work displayed

Seven Elementary students had artwork selected for the 9th Annual Visual Arts Festival in January. The festival was sponsored and held at the Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative in Walnut Ridge.
“I am so proud of the students whose artwork was chosen for display,” art teacher Shawn Gibson states. “I can see that they all have worked very hard on each piece they have created, and I just want them to know how proud I truly am.”
The sixth grade assignment was to make a still life painting. “I am so excited that I was chosen, sixth grader Anthony Theodoropoulos exclaimed. “It makes me feel good about my art work. The whole time I was doing it I was trying to remember and think about my art teacher’s still life painting.”
The fifth grade art assignment was to draw a flower, and Kenna Mclure did just that. “I’m proud of myself for doing something good with my time,” she said. “I enjoy drawing. In fact, I might even become an professional artist when I grow up. I think that I would be a great artist.”
Art class is a great place for Marmaduke students to learn to express themselves by using various forms of art. Some students may even discover a new talent within themselves.
