Marmaduke’s
Honored Artists
by Tonlee Mitchell
The Ninth Annual Visual and Performing Arts Festival, which took
place back in January, recognized some of Marmaduke’s high school and
elementary artist as well as the elementary choir.
Senior Tyler Sanders felt it was most definitely an honor to
be chosen to go. Sanders used acrylic paint on canvas for his painting of a Subway
sandwich, chips, and a soda.
Junior Craig Snyder
who had a ceramic slab bowl chosen, said, “I consider this a major honor
because a lot of people attend and see my art piece. I get to hear all of their
compliments and it makes me feel good.”
Jonathan Hargrove, also a senior, said, “I was actually
shocked that they chose my mask. It’s not usually the type of thing that they
show.”
Marmaduke art teachers Shawn Gibson and Kerry Reddick, who
didn’t get to chose who went to the festival, were very proud of their students.
“If we did [choose who went], I would choose all of my students!” Mrs. Reddick
declared. A group from the Greene County Co-op, where the event is held, chose the
art pieces that were entered in the Festival.
After the pieces were displayed, they were returned to the
students who created them.
